Why This Exists
Vintage computer enthusiasts face a frustrating problem: original manuals disappear when manufacturers stop supporting equipment. Printers from the 1970s and 1980s are particularly hard to document because they predate digital archiving. This project collects what remains and makes it searchable.
The database started with a simple goal: help someone fix a dot matrix printer without spending hours on forums. That grew into organizing by manufacturer and decade because collectors often need complete lineups for restoration projects.
What We Cover
The reference includes: operator manuals, service guides, pinout diagrams, maintenance schedules, and common repair procedures. We focus on dot matrix, line printers, daisy wheel, and early laser printers from major manufacturers like Epson, IBM, NEC, HP, and Okidata.
Each entry includes what we know about the model's specifications. Some documents are original factory publications. Others are scanned community contributions. We note the source when possible.
How to Contribute

Limitations
Manual availability depends on what survives. Some documents exist only on brittle paper in private collections. We cannot create documentation that was never written.
The database focuses on commonly documented models. Rare or region-specific printers may have limited information. Power supply voltages and connector types vary by production run.
Always test equipment in a safe environment. Vintage capacitors fail, and power supplies drift from original specifications over decades.
